What is Future Champs?

Future Champs is a new competition that takes place inside of the UK Hip Hop Dance Championships*, aimed at making it easier for new talent to emerge by:

a) Lowering the barrier for entry  – Free means just about anyone can access the event and

b) Helping young dancers and coaches get off on the right food by dancing with and learning from the best from the very beginning of their career. This year the event will be February 10, 2018.

What does it cost to enter?

Entry for competitors is FREE***.

What are the Rules:

  • All competitors must be 12 years old or younger.
  • Music must be 2:00 minutes in length +/- 5 seconds (1:55 to 2:05)
  • Music and dance must be of a street dance style.
  • You must have UKSDA membership to register your crew. Membership is 100% free and almost instantaneous. Click Here.

This event is aimed at beginners. There is no universal definition for ‘beginners’ as skills can vary based on the amount of practice, the numbers of times per week in lessons, the number of hours per session, etc. Generally, we consider a beginner anyone who’s been dancing one year or less and no more than 1-2 hours per week. The discretion of the teacher/crewleader, however, is allowed in determining ‘beginner’.

Competitors will be permitted to watch the preliminaries of the UK Hip Hop Dance Championships (or appropriate event) at no additional charge.*

*No eligibility to the World Hip Hop Dance Championships is earned.

**Dancer may enter other categories but an additional entry fee is payable.

***A refundable deposit may be required to ensure participation. Coaches/Team leaders must pay an entry fee.
